THE FRANKLIN COMMENTARY

(September 15, 2005)  This weeks game of the week is Tennessee at Florida.  .

Other key match ups include Norte Dame at Michigan State, with Norte Dame favored by six and a half.  Can Norte Dame keep playing?  With one of the toughest schedules, they have a long way to go before we can start talking BCS.

      Next Opponent Spread Comments
USC (2-0) Arkansas 31 Some might stop USC, but not Arkansas
Virginia Tech (2-0) Ohio 34.5 How good is Ohio?  Not that good!
Georgia (2-0) Louisiana-Monroe 38 Georgia gets a scrimmage to work out the kinks.
Texas (2-0) Rice 41 UCLA beat Rice, so if Rice beats Texas…., hey, lets not start now!
Florida State (2-0) Boston College E Take the home team.
Tennessee (2-0) Florida -6 Another key match up early in the season.
LSU (1-0) 9/14 vs Tennessee   Can LSU keep it together?
Miami (FL) (0-1) Clemson 7 Is Clemson for real?
Florida (2-0) Tennessee 6 Another key match up early in the season.
Notre Dame (2-0) Michigan State 6.5 Is Notre Dame really that good, or Michigan that bad?
Georgia Tech (2-0) Connecticut 15 Georgia Tech looks to keep rolling
Boston College (2-0) Florida State E Take the home team.
California (2-0) Illinois 21

Texas Tech (2-0) Sam Houston St. off Not a game, but a scrimmage.
Purdue (2-0) Arizona 7.5 Big 10 vs. PAC 10.
Michigan (1-1) Eastern Michigan 29 A tune up for Michigan?
Ohio State (1-1) San Diego State 27 Ohio State looks for revenge.
Clemson (2-0) Miami (FL) -7 Is Clemson for real?
Utah (2-0) TCU 3 Utah keeps the streak alive.
Auburn (1-1) Ball State 36.5 Can Ball State keep up?
Oregon (2-0) Fresno State 2.5 Fresno State looks to improve.
Iowa (1-1) Northern Iowa off Iowa needs to get moving again.
Iowa State (2-0) 9/23 @ Army
Minnesota (2-0) Florida Atlantic 30 Minnesota just wants to get bowl eligible

It is still early in the season, but you can already look forward to several other key match ups later in the year.   ESPN's mentioned the possibility of  four or five undefeated teams, and a close look at the schedule shows that four or five could make it happen.  More likely the BCS ends up with a mess on it's hands again with five or six schools with one loss, rewarding the school that lost the earliest (Ohio State anyone?)
